The most important event in human history takes place in the middle of nowhere. Perspectives are altered. Perceptions are changed. Nothing will ever be the same again. Is this a moment of deliverance for the human race, or the beginning of its end? Tom Winter thinks he knows, but if he’s right, then seven billion other people are wrong.
“Trust is a slow-burner and all the richer for it. It’s an outstanding novel, delivers in more ways than one, and is worthy of a place on the discerning fan’s bookshelf. 10/10” —Starburst Magazine
I’ve been really pleased with how well the Voodoo Press German edition of TRUST has been received, and today the book hit a new milestone. We’re number one! Congratulations to Michael Preissl and his team. I’m looking to the Voodoo Press releases of THE COST OF LIVING, ISOLATION and STRAIGHT TO YOU coming soon.
The German language edition of TRUST is released today by Voodoo Press. TRUST is a book I’m very proud of. It’s different from most of my other stuff, and it was the first of my pre-HATER Infected Books novels to be rewritten and re-released. There’s been movie interest in the novel from time to time and I think of all my books not under option, it’s the story I’d most like to see on screen. It deliberately goes against all the typical alien contact cliches, and I think original cover artist CRAIG PATON said it best when he called TRUST an anti-science-fiction novel.

The first releases as part of the Voodoo Press partnership with Infected Books will soon be hitting the shelves. Today I’m very excited to be able to share with you the cover art for the German language edition of TRUST, due out later in 2015. More news coming soon. Now I like my character-driven horror fiction to be dark, but in his most recent book, Craig DiLouie has taken dark to a new extreme.
SUFFER THE CHILDREN (out now from Simon and Schuster/Permuted Press) is a genuinely horrific book, extraordinarily uncomfortable reading. DiLouie takes that most precious of things – the relationship between a parent and their child – and pushes it beyond breaking point. The synopsis follows. Click the link below for some thoughts on the book from Craig himself.
“One day, the children die. Three days later, they come back. And ask for blood.
With blood, they stop being dead. They become the children they once were.
But only for a short time. Too soon, they die again. And need more blood to live …
The average body holds ten pints of blood. How far would you go for your child?”
A few folk have asked the question recently, so it’s good to be able to confirm that signed copies of TRUST – my anti-science-fiction novel – are now back in stock. This is the book that relaunched Infected Books back in 2012 – the book that Starburst Magazine rated as 10/10 and said “Trust is a slow-burner and all the richer for it. The layers of characters and details of the story play out perfectly when matched with an ending you’re not likely to forget. It’s also an outstanding novel, delivers in more ways than one, and is worthy of a place on the discerning fan’s bookshelf.”
I finished writing the new version of STRAIGHT TO YOU yesterday. Just edits, beta-reads and (I hope) a little subsequent re-work to be done now, and then my project to get all my older books re-released will be almost complete. I’ll tell you more about the updated version of the book and my plans for it in the coming months.
All this looking back got me thinking about TRUST again. I’m very proud of the book, but I don’t think I’ve shown it enough love in the year and a half since it was re-released, so here’s a little blatant self-promotion to boost its profile.
Starburst magazine rated it 10/10 and said “TRUST is a slow-burner and all the richer for it. The layers of characters and details of the story play out perfectly when matched with an ending you’re not likely to forget. It’s also an outstanding novel, delivers in more ways than one, and is worthy of a place on the discerning fan’s bookshelf.”
Booklist Online said “The writing is not as visceral as Moody’s popular post-apocalyptic novels, but that isn’t a bad thing: this story, with its slowly building sense of unease and multiple thematic undercurrents, needs a more delicate touch. Moody’s many fans will absolutely want to read this one.”
A little advance warning: the free online versions of TRUST will shortly disappear. At the moment you can read the entire novel at www.trustdavidmoody.com and Wattpad, but I’ll be removing the last third or so of the book from these sites at the beginning of August. Why? A couple of reasons, actually.
First, as I’ve already revealed, I’ll be serialising the brand new version of STRAIGHT TO YOU from late summer onwards. The reality of life as a writer at the moment is that I can’t afford to give away as much of my work as I’d like. My kids are a demanding lot. They’re always after something… food, clothes, a roof over their heads, those kinds of things! Over the years I think I must have given away upwards of a million free books, and there are plenty more to come, so I can’t be accused of being stingy.
Second, I’m planning to try a few new things with TRUST, which I’ll tell you more about in due course. I won’t be able to judge the success of these initiatives if the free versions remain available.
Congratulations to Dakota David Dingman from Florida who is the winner of the most recent TRUST giveaway. He gets a copy of the limited edition for his troubles, along with copies of the AUTUMN: AFTERMATH and AUTUMN: THE HUMAN CONDITION limited editions when they’re released later this year. More news about those releases soon.
And for those who haven’t yet read it, I’ve decided to leave the free version of TRUST online for a while longer. Head over to www.trustdavidmoody.com to read it
