STRAIGHT TO YOU
The sun is dying. The temperature around the world is rising by the hour with no sign of any respite. At this rate the planet will soon become uninhabitable; all life extinguished. It might be weeks away, it might be days… we may only have hours remaining. Society is crumbling. The burning world is descending into chaos.
Steven Johnson’s wife is hundreds of miles away and all that matters is reaching her before the end. He has to act now, no time to stop and think. Every second is precious. Tomorrow is too late.
Originally published in 1996 – completely rewritten (and vastly improved) in 2014.
“Straight To You deserves to be ranked alongside such classics as The Stand and Swan Song.” —Ginger Nuts of Horror

Right, we’re very nearly there. Just a few chapters left to go in the serialisation of STRAIGHT TO YOU on WATTPAD to mark the twentieth anniversary of the book’s original release.
In today’s chapter, Steven’s almost reached the end of his journey, but he has one last unexpected hurdle to clear.
For those of you who are late to the party, STRAIGHT TO YOU turns twenty on Monday 26 September. I’ll be posting the next chapter this coming Thursday, then the final four chapters on Monday, meaning the entire novel will be available free to read online.
Stay tuned. The ending of the story is definitely worth waiting around for.
UPDATE 22 September – the second of this week’s chapters is now online.
The free serialisation of STRAIGHT TO YOU at WATTPAD will soon be complete. The book will be 20 years old on 26 September, and the entire novel will be available to read online from that date. Now is a great time to start reading (if you haven’t already). Chapter 23 has just gone live.
UPDATED 15 SEPTEMBER – the second of this week’s chapters has now been added.
STRAIGHT TO YOU chapter 19 is now available to read at WATTPAD. Steven has a little company to help him through this part of his increasingly testing journey. It’s midway through October, and the temperature’s at least 25 degrees higher than it should be. Things are getting tougher by the minute (and it’s looking like there probably aren’t too many minutes left…)
UPDATE 1 September: chapter 20, the second of this week’s chapters, has now been added to Wattpad. Read it here.
I’m around halfway through the free serialisation of STRAIGHT TO YOU at WATTPAD. Just to remind you at this midpoint that I’m making the entire book free, chapter by chapter, culminating on 26 September 2016 – the twentieth anniversary of the original release of the novel.
In today’s instalment, Steven’s caught napping and he might have just lost his one remaining chance of getting to see Samantha again before the end of everything. Click here or on the image below to read it.
The first of this week’s free STRAIGHT TO YOU chapters has been added and is now available for your reading pleasure. The temperature here in the UK may have dropped dramatically since last week’s highs, but the heat in the book is continuing to climb…
Update 28 July – the second of this week’s chapters has now been added. Steven’s desperate, red hot road trip begins in earnest…
Chapter 6 now up! Click here to read it. I know I’m biased, but I’d recommend catching up with this story sooner rather than later if you haven’t already. Things get very hot, very quickly over the next couple of weeks’ instalments…
It’s Tuesday, so the first of this week’s chapters has been added to the free online serialisation of STRAIGHT TO YOU over at Wattpad. Did you know the book almost became a movie once? I wrote about the whole bizarre saga a couple of years back, and you can find the article here.
I hope you’re enjoying the serialisation of the book. Next chapter will be up on Thursday. In the meantime, please read, vote, share etc. I’d love as many people as possible to read the novel.
