In 2016, Wayne Simmons and I curated YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE, which saw a host of zombie authors each contribute an original novella to a year long project. I’m pleased to announce that we’ve now collected the 12 stories together and made them available in a single volume. YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE is out NOW from Infected Books. The ebook – coming in at a massive 180,000 words – costs only $3.99. The paperback is a hefty 492 pages!
We recruited a star-studded line up of authors for the project.
It’s month seven of Infected Books’ YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE, and this month we have RIDE THE SERPENTINE an awesome tale of hard rock and dead folks from the magnificent ANDRE DUZA (co-author with Wayne Simmons of last year’s IB release VOODOO CHILD).
A Serpentine Films Production in Association with the Martin Stone Show…
In the 80s, nobody was bigger than Serpentine. They filled stadiums and performed to sell-out crowds. They lived at the top of the charts, winning award after award. But a life of excess soon took its toll and the band called it a day in 1991.
24 years later, the members of Serpentine put old feelings aside and made plans for a comeback. A documentary was scheduled to chronicle the group’s return. New album. World Tour.
THE DEAD WALK! Chaos in the streets! The breakdown of society!
But even the end of the world can’t stop this band. Cramped together in their fortified tour van, Serpentine travels the backroads of America, documenting their journey on film as a living testament to humanity’s will to survive and the true spirit of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
‘Spinal Tap meets Dawn of the Dead. Duza’s Ride The Serpentine ticks just about every box I’ve got!’ (Wayne Simmons, Author of Flu and Plastic Jesus)
RIDE THE SERPENTINE is available now from Amazon.
Okay, so we’re cynically jumping on the bandwagon here, but why not? All we’re trying to do is spread a little doom and gloom this coming holiday season… Not content with Black Friday, we’re having a whole Black Christmas!
Loads of signed books, plenty of discounts. Free shipping in the UK. The sale also includes Wayne Simmons and Andre Duza’s recently released VOODOO CHILD, which Starburst Magazine gave a superb 8/10 to in their review this week.
Stocks are limited, so please head over to Infected Books now.
It’s a retro-inspired pulp horror classic in the making! Available now. Grab a signed copy from Infected Books (click here) and get a complementary ebook version.
With back-cover blurbs from Steve Johnson (SFX genius who worked on Ghostbusters, Big Trouble in Little China, An American Werewolf in London) and Harry Manfredini (who wrote the iconic score for Friday 13th), this blood-soaked beauty of a book comes very highly recommended.
Voodoo Child is also available from Amazon and other online retailers.
Just a few days now before our huge Halloween event at Waterstones, Birmingham New Street. We’ve got loads planned for the evening including exclusive readings and announcements, special guests and more. You can win stuff by liking and sharing this Facebook post. Click the image below to find out more. Remember – the event is free admission, but we recommend you tweet @WstonesNewSt to reserve your place. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Remember the huge Infected Books event I told you about recently? I need to let you know about a slight change of plan. It’s still on Friday 30 October at 7pm, it’s still going to be a cracking evening, we still want you to come in Halloween fancy dress if you’re up for it… we just need you to go to a different Waterstones store.
For those of you who know my home town of Birmingham, we have (for a short while longer) two large branches of Waterstones. We were originally scheduled to be in the High Street branch, but we’re relocating to the very beautiful New Street store instead, just a five minute walk away. This makes me happy: it’s an amazing building, and it’s where – three years ago this month – I got to interview one of my writing heroes, the legendary James Herbert (photographic evidence below). The store’s closing soon, so this is a great way to send it off in style.
As well as launching Wayne Simmons‘ new novel VOODOO CHILD and (hopefully) interviewing the book’s co-author Andre Duza via Skype, I’ll also be reading from the next HATER novel and talking a little about the upcoming movie.
We’ve space for over a hundred folks, but places are filling fast. If you’re intending on coming along, please send an email to the store (email@example.com) or tweet @WstonesNewSt to let us know you’re coming along.
I’m very, very, VERY excited to announce that Infected Books will be taking over the huge High Street Birmingham branch of Waterstones this Halloween (actually Halloween eve, but it’s close enough). You are cordially invited to join Wayne Simmons, myself, and other Infected Books alumni as we launch new books (Wayne and Andre Duza‘s VOODOO CHILD), read from new, as yet unannounced books, and maybe even reveal why 2016 is shaping up to be the year of Infected Books.
This is going to be an absolutely brilliant evening, so put it in your diaries and please do come along if you can (Halloween-themed fancy dress optional but strongly encouraged). Keep an eye on the Waterstones event page here. Things kick off at 7:00pm on Friday 30 October.

Wayne and I will also be appearing at the Bristol Horror Con at the Future Inn, Bristol a couple of weeks earlier on 17 October. Filling the space vacated by Wayne’s short-lived but already much-missed SCARDiff, it’s another one I’m really looking forward to. More details can be found here. Update 11 October – unfortunately Wayne and I are now unable to attend the Bristol event. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
Coming later this year from Infected Books, VOODOO CHILD by Wayne Simmons and Andre Duza. Get the scoop here. That retro-VHS cover design is a thing of beauty, don’t you think?
