Very excited to announce I’ll be a guest at FOR THE LOVE OF HORROR, a brand new event taking place on October 20 and 21 in Manchester. For more information and ticket details, click here. There’s a stunning guest list, including the inimitable DANNY TREJO, stars from HALLOWEEN, CHILD’S PLAY, NIGHTBREED and much more.
A quick post to tell you about a couple of events which are coming up. On 24 and 25 February I’ll be heading back to Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham, for the BIRMINGHAM HORROR CON. It’s always a pleasure to take part in a hometown event, and this time I have the honour of signing alongside such horror luminaries as Simon Clarke and Tim Lebbon. I’m very much looking forward to it, and I hope some of you are able to make it to pick up a copy of ONE OF US WILL BE DEAD BY MORNING, YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE and more. Tickets are available here and you can find out more about the event on Facebook.
And on 30 June I’ll be heading to London for my first convention in the capital since, I think, 2009. The LONDON HORROR CON is another show from Vic Wright and the Horrorcon team, so you know it’ll be a blast. The event takes place on 30 June and 1 July at Printworks London, Surrey Quays Road. Tickets are here, and more details are here and here.
I’ll be a guest at the LIVERPOOL HORROR CON on 7th and 8th October at the Exhibition Centre, Kings Dock, Liverpool. There’s a cracking guest list, tons of exhibitors, and loads more besides. Tickets are available here and I hope to see some of you there.
Hope to see you at the BIRMINGHAM HORROR CONVENTION at Edgbaston Stadium this Saturday. I’ll be there along with a host of horror luminaries, including stars of the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
Join me tomorrow for my annual pilgrimage to the Phoenix Arts Centre, Leicester, for the UK FESTIVAL OF ZOMBIE CULTURE. It’s always an absolute blast, and this year the movies showing are: NIGHT OF SOMETHING STRANGE, PLAN Z, TRAIN TO BUSAN (can’t wait for that one), ATTACK OF THE LEDERHOSEN ZOMBIES and PEELERS. Tickets are available direct from the Phoenix here.
Don’t forget, this weekend I’ll be a guest at HORROR EXPO IRELAND in Dublin. Tickets are going fast, so if you want to be there, you’d best get in quick. It’ll be well worth the price of admission, with twelve hours of horror lined up including panels, readings, screenings, and paranormal investigations. Find out more on Facebook and Twitter, and check out this article from PureM Zine. Hope to see some of you there.
First off, on 30 October, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be heading to the Freemasons Grand Lodge in Dublin where I’ll be guesting at HORROR EXPO IRELAND 2016. This sounds like a cracker: Running from 2pm to 2am Horror Expo Ireland promises an unforgettable and unique experience, which boasts a plethora of horror related events and activities ranging from panels, Q&A sessions, screenings, and paranormal investigations. While it is fair to say that this event is not your average convention, the organisers have provided a public platform which is entirely fan focused, as the audience is afforded an opportunity to critically engage with the genre of horror from a range perspectives alongside some of the industry’s most acknowledged experts.
Tickets are €40 and more information is available here. Follow the event on Facebook and Twitter.
The following weekend on 5 November I’ll be making a return to Lowestoft – spiritual home of the HATER
And on 12 November I’ll be heading to the Phoenix Centre in Leicester for the 10th UK FESTIVAL OF ZOMBIE CULTURE hosted by Zombie Ed (the brains behind Terror4Fun and the ZOMBIE TIMES). If you’ve not been to one of Ed’s undead events before, you’re in for a treat. Join the Facebook group here. Ticket details will be announced shortly.
Remember the huge Infected Books event I told you about recently? I need to let you know about a slight change of plan. It’s still on Friday 30 October at 7pm, it’s still going to be a cracking evening, we still want you to come in Halloween fancy dress if you’re up for it… we just need you to go to a different Waterstones store.
For those of you who know my home town of Birmingham, we have (for a short while longer) two large branches of Waterstones. We were originally scheduled to be in the High Street branch, but we’re relocating to the very beautiful New Street store instead, just a five minute walk away. This makes me happy: it’s an amazing building, and it’s where – three years ago this month – I got to interview one of my writing heroes, the legendary James Herbert
As well as launching Wayne Simmons‘
We’ve space for over a hundred folks, but places are filling fast. If you’re intending on coming along, please send an email to the store (firstname.lastname@example.org) or tweet @WstonesNewSt to let us know you’re coming along.
It’s great to be able to confirm that Wayne Simmons and I will be flying the Infected Books flag at the Cardiff Independent Comic Expo next month. Kicking off at 10:00am at the Cardiff Masonic Hall, Guildford Street, the event is designed to showcase the very best in indie comics from South Wales and beyond (with a couple of dodgy-looking horror authors thrown into the mix). Guests include: Jasper Bark, Jason Cardy, Mike Collins, Ian Edginton, Patrick Goddard, Paul Grist, Anthony D Lee, Dylan Teague, Rob Williams, Simon Williams and many, many more. Tickets cost just £5 and are available from the Expo’s website. More information about the event is available on Facebook, and follow the team on Twitter to keep up to date with the latest updates. Hope to see you there!
The event takes place between 27 and 30 March, and you can find all the information you need right here. I’m really looking forward to this one. Last year, when I wasn’t on panels, I spent most of my time just talking to folks, soaking up the atmosphere and selling books. This year that’s ALL I’m planning on doing. Hope to catch up with a few of you there!
