Event update

Remember the huge Infected Books event I told you about recently? I need to let you know about a slight change of plan. It’s still on Friday 30 October at 7pm, it’s still going to be a cracking evening, we still want you to come in Halloween fancy dress if you’re up for it… we just need you to go to a different Waterstones store.

For those of you who know my home town of Birmingham, we have (for a short while longer) two large branches of Waterstones. We were originally scheduled to be in the High Street branch, but we’re relocating to the very beautiful New Street store instead, just a five minute walk away. This makes me happy: it’s an amazing building, and it’s where – three years ago this month – I got to interview one of my writing heroes, the legendary James Herbert (photographic evidence below). The store’s closing soon, so this is a great way to send it off in style.

As well as launching Wayne Simmons new novel VOODOO CHILD and (hopefully) interviewing the book’s co-author Andre Duza via Skype, I’ll also be reading from the next HATER novel and talking a little about the upcoming movie.

We’ve space for over a hundred folks, but places are filling fast. If you’re intending on coming along, please send an email to the store (birminghamnewst@waterstones.com) or tweet @WstonesNewSt to let us know you’re coming along.

Two Bald Blokes – Back on the Road

Remember when Wayne Simmons and I embarked on our ‘Never Trust a Man with Hair‘ tour a couple of years back? Well, we’re getting the band back together!

I’m very excited to announce we’ll be appearing together at Southcart Books in Walsall on February 21 at 3:00pm. Hear us read, bicker, reminisce, talk about the future of Infected Books and publishing as a whole, and generally put the world to rights.

fight night

This was originally to be an event hosted by Jasper Bark to support the release of his new Prime Cuts but, unfortunately, Jasper can no longer make it. Keep an eye on Southcart Books, though, as he’ll now be appearing there in March.

Southcart Books can be found on Facebook here, and in the real world here:

Free-form Jazz and Alien Invasions

I was away on Friday (more about that in a second), so didn’t update here when the latest chapter of TRUST went live. Another chapter has been added this morning, so please head over to www.trustdavidmoody.com to catch up. Something very sinister is happening in Thatcham, and it’s going to change everything…

A lot of folks have been waiting for alternative eBook versions of the novel – Nook, Kobo, iBooks etc. etc. They should all be live at the relevant stores this week. Alternatively, you can now pick up the book in all formats direct from Smashwords.

Now to explain the bizarre title of this post… On Friday Wayne Simmons and I were in Maidstone, Kent for a signing and appearance. We took part in an event called Writing Allowed – an extremely well attended evening of poetry, prose and, yes, a little free-form jazz. I don’t think either of us have ever been part of such an eclectic bill, but I’m glad we were. It was hugely enjoyable, both as a participant and an audience member. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Danny Rhodes, Georgie Grassom, and everyone involved in the evening for making us feel so welcome. With our curse-filled zombie and alien readings, we stuck out a mile, but that was no bad thing!

More events on the way – don’t forget we’ll be at the UK Festival of Zombie Culture this Saturday, and signing at Waterstones Hull the following weekend.

The NEVER TRUST A MAN WITH HAIR TOUR – update!

As you may have heard, Wayne Simmons and I will be signing in various locations over the next few months, and our little jaunt has been christened the Never Trust a Man With Hair Tour. We’ve even got T-shirts (but I’ll spare you a picture of me wearing mine this morning – primarily because I’m alone in the house for once and I don’t have anyone to take a photo – you’ll have to make do with just the logo instead!).

We’ve made a few changes to our published schedule, so here’s a quick update:

CHELTENHAM – 31st October
We’ll be at Waterstones in Cheltenham on Halloween, along with a few friends. Adam Baker, Adam Nevill and Joseph D’Lacey will be joining us for a very special evening of readings and signing.

HORROR IN THE EAST – 2nd/3rd November
Back to Lowestoft (the setting, as you might remember, for THEM OR US) for a FREE weekend of horror alongside many other authors. Visit the website www.horrorintheeast.com for full details.

MAIDSTONE – 9th November
A new date! Wayne and I will be signing at Waterstones in Maidstone on the afternoon of 9th November, followed by a reading, Q&A etc. at the Hazlitt Arts Centre in the evening.

HULL – 24th November
I’m delighted to announce that Wayne and I will be joined by the brilliant Gary McMahon at Waterstones in Hull on 24th November.

SWINDON – 8th December
Wayne and I will be at Waterstones Swindon on 8th December.

Finally, I’m disappointed to announce that this coming weekend’s horror festival in Northampton has been cancelled. Not good. The words ‘piss up’ and ‘brewery’ spring to mind (a typically English expression, if you’re wondering what I’m on about).

Hope to see you while we’re out and about. Remember, if you want us to come visit your neck of the woods, please get in touch or ask your local bookstore to contact either/both of us. And I’m sorry, though we’d love to travel overseas and I am working to make that happen, we’re just doing the UK for now.
