17 DAYS – casting call (kind of)

I’ve mentioned a few times recently that the novel I’m currently working on is called 17 DAYS. All things being equal, I’m hoping to have the writing finished by this time tomorrow. Another week or so of final edits and tidying up etc., and the book should be with my agent by the second week in February.

When it’s all done and dusted, I’ll tell you more about it. In the meantime, I’m after a little help.

whoWhen you learn more about the book, you’ll see that the story lends itself to a very specific type of promotion. Whether it’s to sell the book to publishers or to support the eventual release of the novel itself, I want to get a head-start on that promotional aspect now. I’m looking for someone to front a very lo-fi video – possibly a series of videos – recreating scenes from the novel. I need someone who can act, but at the same time act natural. As is usual for my books, our hero is a very ordinary chap!

So, if you’re male, British, aged between 27 and 35, and you’re interested in getting involved, please drop me a line at davidmoody@djmoody.co.uk and I’ll let you have more details. Thanks in advance.

Right. Back to it!

A quick AUTUMN competition

Three weeks since I last posted . . . that’s not good!

I’ve been trying to get the bulk of the third HATER book written before DOG BLOOD hits the shelves next month. I’m a third of the way in to what I hope will be the final(ish) draft, and there are another few weeks work ahead of me yet. If I can get it done and delivered then that gives me much more opportunity to get out and about to promote DOG BLOOD (which, I’m pleased to report, seems to be going down well so far).

The AUTUMN movie was released on DVD in the UK this week. Bizarrely (and I didn’t know about this until I saw it listed on Play.com), they’ve stuck me on the front cover! People will start to think I’m vain, what with this and the cover of RAGE – the French edition of HATER which came out last year. Just for the record – I’m not, and I had nothing to do with either of these. Honest.

Anyway, to celebrate the release of the DVD, I’m giving away the copy I’m holding in the picture. Just answer this stupidly easy question before 31st May to be in with a chance of winning (form removed as the competition has now closed).

In the meantime, a couple of quick bits of news:

The German edition of DOG BLOODTODESHUNGER – is available to pre-order from Amazon.de and other sites. The book will be released by Goldmann on 18th October.

Finally, I know I promised more information about the ‘Projekt’ in my last post, but some unexpected (and very interesting) complications have arisen and I can’t say anything yet. Hopefully there will be some news about this in the next couple of weeks.

New edition of HATER and the first DOG BLOOD reviews

The US mass-market paperback edition of HATER is now available. If you’d prefer to get your hands on a hardback and you don’t yet have a copy, shoot over to Amazon.com where it’s currently on offer for an incredibly low $8.78 – a 60% saving!

I’ll be launching a new HATER website very soon, and the ‘Projekt’ you might have heard me talking about will finally be revealed. In the meantime, here’s a photograph (courtesy of Gavin Brogan) to whet your appetite…

And finally… the publisher’s advance mailing has begun and the first reviews of DOG BLOOD are starting to appear. I wouldn’t recommend reading them if you haven’t read HATER, but for those of you who have…

Looking for a voice actor…

…to record a few lines of dialogue for a project we’re working on (yes, this project).

We’re after someone who can record a good quality voiceover in the style of a British newsreader – the kind of voice you’d hear on the BBC news. You’ll also need to be able to record the lines yourself and email them to the project team.

Time’s very short so, if you can help, please email dogblood@gmx.com for more information as soon as you can. As a sweetener, if you volunteer and we use your voice, I’ll send you some goodies in the post!

Anyone near to Edinburgh this Saturday morning?

Right now I’m working with a very cool bunch of people on some short promotional videos. Can’t say too much at the moment, other than it’s HATER / DOG BLOOD related. We’re looking for a few extras to help with a scene being filmed this Saturday, 6th March. If you’re available and you’re interested in helping out, send an email to dogblood@gmx.com and one of the team will get in touch. I’ll be there for most of the day, so if you have anything you’d like signed etc. feel free to bring it along.

Thanks in advance for your help.
