Little Monster

A quick post to let you know that James Plumb’s terrific movie LITTLE MONSTER is now available on Amazon in the UK. Download it, stream it, enjoy it.

Your six-year-old daughter has been bitten by a zombie and now hungers for human flesh. What do you do? Do you double tap her in the brain? Or do you become the ultimate enabler and feed her human flesh? And where do you get human flesh from? This is the dilemma that Gareth and Jen face with their beautiful daughter Ana. What will they do? And how far will it go?

As you may remember, this is James’s adaptation of his novella from the YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE series. You can read the original story here. Why not pick up the complete YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE collection? It’s a very weighty, very bloody book which I’m supremely proud of.

Little Monster

My friend JAMES PLUMB and the MAD SCIENCE FILMS team made another movie. I told you about it back in November – it’s an adaptation of the novella James wrote for the Infected Books YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE project a few years back. LITTLE MONSTER is a cracking novella which has become a great little film.

There’s an Indiegogo campaign currently running to fund the DVD release of the movie. Please check it out and consider supporting.

Little Monster

Cast your mind back to 2016 when Wayne Simmons and I curated the YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE – 12 authors, 12 original zombie novellas. It was a huge success, with stories that took the living dead from Somalia to Wales, and from the post-apocalypse to the office Christmas party. The entire collection is now available as a very reasonably priced ebook and a beautiful door stop-sized paperback.

One of my favourite stories is LITTLE MONSTER by James Plumb. James, as you may recall, is a film-maker, and what happens when a film-maker writes a story? The answer’s pretty obvious – they inevitably go on to film it. That’s exactly what James has done, and the movie adaptation of his novella is now ready for public consumption.

Fresh blood required

I’ve had a few quiet years but I’m hopeful that you’ll be seeing a lot more of me in the near future. There are a number of very exciting projects in the pipeline. A great way of keeping up to date with my news would be to sign up for my newsletter, and you can find all the necessary details over here. And yes, before you ask, I’m GDPR compliant. Here’s a link to the privacy policy.

For a long time I gave away a short story to new mailing list subscribers, but now I’ve upped the ante and produced HOW IT WORKS – a tongue in cheek guide to the inner workings of a typical horror author (me!). The book is available in Kindle and ePub formats, and also as a pdf. As well as a biography, frequently asked questions, and a guide to all my current novels, it also contains SCRATCH – the dystopian zombie novella I wrote for Infected Books’ YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE series.

The ebook is designed as a primer for people who are new to my work, so feel free to pass it on to anyone you think might be interested. Chances are if you’re reading this you’re already well versed in my work, but as the title of this post implies, I’m on the lookout for fresh blood…!

Year of the Zombie – out now

In 2016, Wayne Simmons and I curated YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE, which saw a host of zombie authors each contribute an original novella to a year long project. I’m pleased to announce that we’ve now collected the 12 stories together and made them available in a single volume. YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE is out NOW from Infected Books. The ebook – coming in at a massive 180,000 words – costs only $3.99. The paperback is a hefty 492 pages!

We recruited a star-studded line up of authors for the project.

My friend spent last week sealed inside a nuclear bunker

You might have heard of my friend Sean T. Page. He’s an all-round good egg. He’s also the hugely successful author of the Zombie Survival and Alien Invasion Haynes Manuals (which he recently followed up with the Zombie Survival Transport Manual). Not only that, he also contributed the brilliant, and not a little disturbing, 1975 to last year’s Infected Books YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE project.

Trawl the archives of this site, and you’ll discover that there’s another side to Sean. A few years back he had himself sealed into a decommissioned nuclear bunker for a week (check out my report here), then followed that up with a week alone in the Sinai desert.

Last week Sean went back down into the bunker for another stint and, as before, he filmed a video blog each day. I’ve a couple of connections with that bunker which I wrote about here and here, and it was also the inspiration for parts of THEM OR US. Knowing what I know about the place, I can’t decide whether Sean’s incredibly brave or just plain crazy. Whatever the answer, I present his most recent video transmissions for your viewing pleasure.

The office Christmas party from hell

It’s that time of year again… Remember the time Wayne Simmons and I wrote a novella about the office Christmas party at the end of the world? It’s bloody stupid, and it’s bloody (very bloody) good fun.

The long-promised YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE paperback and ebook anthology will appear next year. Until then, the individual novellas are available on Amazon, and you can read them for free if you’re a Kindle Unlimited subscriber.

Is this our LAST CHRISTMAS?

Very pleased to be able to announce the release today of LAST CHRISTMAS – the final book in Infected Books’ YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE series, and the first time WAYNE SIMMONS and I have collaborated on a story. It’s silly. It’s bloody. It’s Christmassy. It’s a whole lot of fun and I hope you enjoy it.

The Office Christmas Party can a nightmare at the best of times but when it coincides with the end of the world, things get even messier.

For mild-mannered security guard Howard Stanton, this was meant to be an easy shift. A chance to keep his head down and watch Die Hard movies while the rest of the staff get wasted. But then the zombie apocalypse happened and peopled expected him to do something about it. Was that even in his job description?

It’s going to be a long drink- and drug-fuelled night. The world’s going to hell and it’s down to Howard to hold it all together. He’s in charge tonight, and if he screws up, it’ll be everyone’s last Christmas.

It’s been a quiet couple of years, but things will be cranking up a gear or two (or ten) in 2017. THE FRONT: RED DEVILS will be out in February, ONE OF US WILL BE DEAD BY MORNING (HATER #4) will be out in August, and there will be other surprises along the way. Oh, and important paperwork has just been signed for the screen adaptation of HATER. More news coming soon…

Pick up LAST CHRISTMAS now from Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com and Amazon.de. I hope you have as much fun reading it as we did writing it. And if I don’t get to post here again before Christmas, wherever you are and whatever you celebrate, I hope you and your families and friends have an excellent time.

Year of the Zombie #11 – ONE OF THEM by MATT SHAW

I can’t believe we’re already announcing the last but one YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE novella. This year has flown past. Our latest author is a real sick b*stard. It’s an honour to introduce MATT SHAW with his story, ONE OF THEM.

oneofthemBob meet Andria. Andria meet Bob.

The zombie apocalypse has brought the world to its knees. All the survival plans have been tried, but nothing’s worked. Our world has been taken over by Them – sick, diseased creatures which exist with the sole aim of spreading their infection until none of us are left alive.

But even in this dystopian hell, fate deals some surprising hands.

Loner Bob was ready for the end days. His house is strong and he has supplies enough to last him a while. When he finds Andria, though, the woman who cared for his father in the rest home during the final days and weeks of his life, he sees an opportunity to repay the kindness she showed his dying dad. It’s the very least he can do.

It’s a no brainer. There’s safety in numbers. After all, it’s the end of the world, and survivors should stick together when times are tough like this… shouldn’t they?

ONE OF THEM is available now from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de.
