Very pleased to be able to announce the release today of LAST CHRISTMAS – the final book in Infected Books’ YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE series, and the first time WAYNE SIMMONS and I have collaborated on a story. It’s silly. It’s bloody. It’s Christmassy. It’s a whole lot of fun and I hope you enjoy it.
The Office Christmas Party can a nightmare at the best of times but when it coincides with the end of the world, things get even messier.
For mild-mannered security guard Howard Stanton, this was meant to be an easy shift. A chance to keep his head down and watch Die Hard movies while the rest of the staff get wasted. But then the zombie apocalypse happened and peopled expected him to do something about it. Was that even in his job description?
It’s going to be a long drink- and drug-fuelled night. The world’s going to hell and it’s down to Howard to hold it all together. He’s in charge tonight, and if he screws up, it’ll be everyone’s last Christmas.
It’s been a quiet couple of years, but things will be cranking up a gear or two (or ten) in 2017. THE FRONT: RED DEVILS will be out in February, ONE OF US WILL BE DEAD BY MORNING (HATER #4) will be out in August, and there will be other surprises along the way. Oh, and important paperwork has just been signed for the screen adaptation of HATER. More news coming soon…
Pick up LAST CHRISTMAS now from Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com and Amazon.de. I hope you have as much fun reading it as we did writing it. And if I don’t get to post here again before Christmas, wherever you are and whatever you celebrate, I hope you and your families and friends have an excellent time.
I can’t believe we’re already announcing the last but one YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE novella. This year has flown past. Our latest author is a real sick b*stard. It’s an honour to introduce MATT SHAW with his story, ONE OF THEM.
Bob meet Andria. Andria meet Bob.
The zombie apocalypse has brought the world to its knees. All the survival plans have been tried, but nothing’s worked. Our world has been taken over by Them – sick, diseased creatures which exist with the sole aim of spreading their infection until none of us are left alive.
But even in this dystopian hell, fate deals some surprising hands.
Loner Bob was ready for the end days. His house is strong and he has supplies enough to last him a while. When he finds Andria, though, the woman who cared for his father in the rest home during the final days and weeks of his life, he sees an opportunity to repay the kindness she showed his dying dad. It’s the very least he can do.
It’s a no brainer. There’s safety in numbers. After all, it’s the end of the world, and survivors should stick together when times are tough like this… shouldn’t they?
ONE OF THEM is available now from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de.
It’s the first of the month, and time for the launch of the tenth novella in the Infected Books YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE series. This month, I’m really pleased to introduce Scott McGlasson, the winner of our Pitch and Page competition, and his story, NOCK.
Ten years After civilization collapsed, a walled city is the only world Stace Tomlinson has ever known. Undead ferals and living marauders still prowl the wilderness outside, but the people of Shawnee Lodge have adapted as best they can. Ammunition, electronics, and gasoline are now distant memories from Before, and they have once again taken up the bow. When almost all the horses and cattle were slaughtered, they learned how to turn ferals into dociles, pulling their ploughs and wagons, turning the wheels of their mills.
It’s a simple life of crops and crafts, but Stace doesn’t want to end up stuck on a farm. She wants to follow in her father’s footsteps, outside the walls. Rob Tomlinson is a Ranger – one of the best, a master of fieldcraft and feral hunting – and living in the shadow of such a fearsome, well-respected figure comes with its own problems. The pressure Stace feels to match up to her father’s expectations can be unbearable. Sometimes, though, life has a habit of showing you one path, then leading you down another.
Stace has struggled to prove to her father that she’s up to the job. Today, though, she’s going to have to step up. Both of their lives depend on it.
NOCK is available now from AMAZON.COM, AMAZON.CO.UK and AMAZON.DE
It’s with great pleasure that I’m able to announce the winner of the Infected Books Year of the Zombie Pitch and Page competition. It’s taken a while for the judging process to be completed, and I’m sorry to have kept folks waiting for the result. We had a good number of entries, but there was a clear favourite which judges Michael Preissl, Gina Panettieri and I unanimously picked.
Congratulations to SCOTT MCGLASSON. Scott’s novella NOCK will be October’s Year of the Zombie release.
Huge thanks to EVERYONE who entered the competition. I’d like to particularly mention a number of other great writers who were highly commended by the judges: Dan Howarth, Matthew Gilman, Angela Bodine and Mouse-Diver Dudfield.
It’s the first of the month, and that can only mean one thing – the release of the next YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE novella. This month we have a real blast from the past, as the brilliant SEAN T. PAGE takes us back to 1975 and a top-secret bunker in the middle of zombie-infested London. Sean is one of my all-time favourite zombie people and an expert in his field, and it’s a real honour to have him on board. 1975 is available now from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de and other sites worldwide for just 99c.
The Ark is a secret Ministry bunker hidden deep beneath the streets of London and humanity’s last hope for survival.
Sealed inside, a small team oversees 5,000 cryogenically frozen humans whilst the world above disintegrates.
But, as bunker fever spreads through the concrete walls of the Ark, those still awake begin to wonder if they’d be safer on the outside.
Random murders, claustrophobic violence and plastic mannequins… far too many plastic mannequins.
Polyester flares and the Osmonds aren’t the only things to be afraid of in 1975.
Thanks to everyone who picked up my YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE novella, SCRATCH. I’m really pleased with how it’s gone down. Some really nice reviews have popped up online too. THIS IS HORROR said SCRATCH “…rattles along to its conclusion with quite a few heart-stopping moments, and even a small ‘twist’ at the end. A very good example of David Moody’s considerable talents, should you really need convincing.” and the ever-reliable Greg at 2BookLoversReviews said “Nobody. I mean nobody does family dysfunction as well as David Moody.” Quite a compliment (I think).
You can pick up SCRATCH right now from AMAZON.COM, AMAZON.CO.UK, and AMAZON.DE.
Enter the Infected Books pitch and page competition by midnight tonight (image pinched from @madsciencefilms – thanks James!). Details here.
My turn. It’s YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE month 8. Summer holiday time. Sun, sea, sand, buckets and spades… and the living dead. It’s been far too long since I released anything, so I’m putting that right today. You can pick up SCRATCH right now from AMAZON.COM, AMAZON.CO.UK, AMAZON.DE and others, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
They don’t want to kill you, they don’t want to eat your brains, they just want to infect you – one scratch and you’re history.
Jody’s up against it this morning. She’s stuck in a tent on her own with three kids in the middle of nowhere, and it’s the beginning of the end of the world. Her car’s on fumes, they’re miles from anywhere, and things are looking bleak.
It looks like there’s only one place left for Jody to go. Trouble is, it’s the last place on earth she wants to be. Impending armageddon and massive hordes of sick, undead creatures have nothing on the personal horrors she’ll have to face here.
Either way, she’s screwed. One scratch and it’s all over.
Get SCRATCH now from from AMAZON.COM.
A quick reminder that there’s only one week left to enter the Infected Books Pitch and Page competition. The phenomenal prize is to be published by Infected Books as part of our Year of the Zombie initiative with all the perks that entails (eg a proper contract, monthly royalty payments, and inclusion in the print anthology coming in 2017). Full details can be found here, and entries need to be in by 5 August via our dedicated Facebook thread.
It’s month seven of Infected Books’ YEAR OF THE ZOMBIE, and this month we have RIDE THE SERPENTINE an awesome tale of hard rock and dead folks from the magnificent ANDRE DUZA (co-author with Wayne Simmons of last year’s IB release VOODOO CHILD).
A Serpentine Films Production in Association with the Martin Stone Show…
In the 80s, nobody was bigger than Serpentine. They filled stadiums and performed to sell-out crowds. They lived at the top of the charts, winning award after award. But a life of excess soon took its toll and the band called it a day in 1991.
24 years later, the members of Serpentine put old feelings aside and made plans for a comeback. A documentary was scheduled to chronicle the group’s return. New album. World Tour.
THE DEAD WALK! Chaos in the streets! The breakdown of society!
But even the end of the world can’t stop this band. Cramped together in their fortified tour van, Serpentine travels the backroads of America, documenting their journey on film as a living testament to humanity’s will to survive and the true spirit of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
‘Spinal Tap meets Dawn of the Dead. Duza’s Ride The Serpentine ticks just about every box I’ve got!’ (Wayne Simmons, Author of Flu and Plastic Jesus)
RIDE THE SERPENTINE is available now from Amazon.
