You can now listen to the first chapter of HATER, as read by Mark Yoshimoto Namcoff.
Huge thanks to Mark for this. Click on the following link to listen…
While I was originally writing HATER in 2006, I got talking to Phil ‘Swill’ Odgers of the band The Men They Couldn’t Hang. One thing led to another and the end result was that the entire band made a brutal and unforgettable appearance in chapter 4 of the book!
To celebrate the re-publication of HATER and the fact that The Men They Couldn’t Hang will shortly be releasing a new album (visit www.tmtch.net for news of an EP and a tour announcement), we’ve combined forces to run an exclusive competition. Click here (before 30 April) and answer a very simple question for a chance to win one of three copies of the UK hardback edition of HATER, signed by both me and Swill!
If you’re in London, try and pick up a copy of the new free magazine, LIBERATION FREQUENCY. With an initial run of 10,000 copies to be distributed through universities, music stores, clothing & fashion outlets, over and underground stations and selected bars and restaurants, the double-ended magazine takes a refreshingly original approach to covering the arts scene. ‘Liberation’ covers Indie music, rock, comedy, books and graphic novels. Flip the magazine over and ‘Frequency’ focuses on soul, jazz and R&B.
I’m honoured that the publishers chose to feature HATER in their first issue, but that’s not the only reason I’m posting about the magazine here. Liberation Frequency demands your attention and it’s well worth hunting down a copy if you find yourself in London town!
Update: An extended version of my interview with LF is available here.
I’ve just heard that AMOK, the Polish edition of HATER, will be published by Amber in April 2009.
HATER has been given a great review in this month’s RUE MORGUE magazine. “Moody knows how to temper tension to maximum effect and punctuates it with enough nerve-wracking brutality that you’ll be looking over your shoulder for a week after reading it.”
And, you’ll be glad to hear, there are no photos of me in this one!
This month’s issue of the always excellent SFX Magazine includes a brand new interview with me. A word of warning… if you think the small picture of me above is bad, wait ’till you see the full page version. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…!
I’m really pleased to announce that ODIO, the Spanish edition of HATER, will be released on 17 March by Minotauro. More details are available here.
Thanks to everyone who picked up a copy of HATER this week. Here’s a very quick round-up of a few bits of news.
I took part in the Page 69 test – click here for the results!
I’ve added a new page to this site for press clippings. You can access it from the sidebar or click here.
New reviews have been added to this page. Also, you can access these via the RSS feed in the sidebar.
Finally, you can now read chapter 4 of HATER at various sites around the web; Tor.com and Fangoria to name but two!
HATER is released in the UK today. You can pick up a copy from all the usual online stores and also from most branches of Waterstones.
Graeme Flory was kind enough to publish a great review of the book here, and has today published a brief interview I did with him here!
