More people have been saying nice things about CHOKEHOLD. 2bookloversreviews said: “Authors are able to accomplish some incredible things: they create worlds that captivate people, they imagine characters that complete strangers connect with, they make people forget, temporarily, about the normal lives they live. David Moody has accomplished all of this with his Hater world.”
And I was equally pleased with AintitCool’s feedback (even though they got my name wrong in the headline!): “The novel is a speedy downhill slalom race to the final war between the Haters and Unchanged. There’s no air to breathe, every page is crisp and determined. As characters you love draw to their unfortunate ends, you’re left in their ashes wondering if anyone will make it out alive. It’s everything a novel on war should feel like. Desolate and relentless, no one is safe here. David Moody has put together a completely satisfactory end to this trilogy.”
To celebrate, and because it’s that time of year, I thought I’d join the rest of the world and launch a sale. From now until Monday 2 December, you can get 20% off any order of signed books at www.infectedbooks.co.uk. Just make sure you use the code INFECTEDXMAS at checkout.
One final post to advise that the Infected Bookstore will close its virtual doors tomorrow at around midnight UK time. Head over there now for one last look around…
And just to confirm, signed books will still be available from Amazon and eBay (and eventually from this site too). This is a ‘repositioning’ (to use a horrible corporate term). Infected Books is a publisher first and foremost, not a book shop!
Remember also, every signed book bought gets you ten entries in the exclusive THE SPACES BETWEEN competition.
Please click here to see what’s still available.
It seems like I’m always trying to get you to buy signed books from www.infectedbooks.co.uk, but please allow me one last post…
I’ve decided that I’ll be closing the Infected Bookstore shortly. Signed books will still be available (direct from this site, eventually), but running the store as is just isn’t working out as I’d hoped.
Just before it disappears, however, I have one last announcement to make. I need to free up some space in my office, so I’m selling off a large number of rare and out-of-print books. You can see everything that’s available by visiting this link or clicking the image below. There are plenty of AUTUMN and HATER bundles to be found.
All the books are in mint condition and will be personally signed.
Rest assured, this isn’t the end of me or of Infected Books, just a re-focus. I hope you’ll find something of interest in the store, and do please check back regularly over the coming days as I put more of my inventory online. If you’re looking for a specific title to complete your collection, drop me a line and I’ll see what I can find.
It’s time for another Infected Books sale. Lots of stuff on offer this time around. Click here or on the image below for full details.
I’ve been bowled over with the response to the new version of STRAIGHT TO YOU. Sales have been strong, and folks have been really positive with their words. To celebrate, until March 21 you can pick up signed copies of STRAIGHT TO YOU, TRUST and AUTUMN: THE HUMAN CONDITION at a 10% discount from www.infectedbooks.co.uk. And don’t forget, complementary ebook versions are included with all those titles.
Alternatively, you could try and win a copy of the new book. There’s a giveaway running over at SCREAM MAGAZINE!
Very pleased to be a part of this promotion today, organised by Tim W Long. For one day only you can pick up a whole load of zombie books for your Kindle for just 99c each. AUTUMN: THE HUMAN CONDITION is included in the deal. Click here for more information.
And I’m also pleased to announce that from now until Saturday you can pick up the beautiful limited edition hardcover edition of THE HUMAN CONDITION for just £10 from www.infectedbooks.co.uk.
The Infected Bookstore has been given a long-overdue lick of paint. It was about time – there will be more books coming soon, as well as the additional merchandise I’ve been teasing since the beginning of the year. Head on over now to www.infectedbooks.co.uk, and don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any problems with the new site.
To celebrate the relaunch, the limited edition Infected Books hardcovers of AUTUMN: THE HUMAN CONDITION and TRUST have had their prices slashed to £15.00 for the next two weeks only. Click here to visit the site and take advantage of this offer. There are lots of other Gollancz and Thomas Dunne books available at very low prices too…
And remember, those of you who purchase the hardcover version of THE HUMAN CONDITION
will automatically qualify for a discount on the forthcoming Infected Books/Gollancz (even more limited) edition of AUTUMN: AFTERMATH
There have been several reasons for the lack of activity on this site recently. Some of them you already know about, namely JOE AND ME and TRUST (more information about TRUST coming next week, by the way). Some reasons I haven’t shared yet, though, and they include finishing the first 100,000 word draft of a brand new novel, preparatory work on a new five book horror/science-fiction series, planning the rewrite of STRAIGHT TO YOU, outlining another new novel (as close as I’ll ever get to a vampire story), and finishing up work on the script for ISOLATION (yes, it is still happening and yes, I’ll tell you more about it very soon).
There’s something else that’s been eating up my time recently – moving house. Barring any last-minute hitches, my family and I should be relocating in the next month or so. That might not be particularly interesting to anyone but us, but there are a couple of implications you might want to know about.
Firstly, I’ve got an enormous number of books in my loft, and I want to get rid of most of them. So I’m having a clearance sale. Head over to www.infectedbooks.co.uk now to pick up a few bargains. There are a handful of Infected Books paperback editions of AUTUMN as well as the last box of copies of the original 1996 release of STRAIGHT TO YOU, all going at reasonable prices. All the books are in mint condition and will be signed.
Second… does anyone still use VHS? I ask because I’ve got a couple of hundred assorted movies on tape which are of no use to me whatsoever. They’re going free to anyone who wants them, but there are a couple of conditions: 1. that whoever has them takes the lot (because I don’t have time to split them up) and, 2. you need to be in the UK and able to collect (because I’m not paying the postage on four huge boxes of tapes!). If you’re interested (serious enquiries only, please), then get in touch and we’ll talk. Bear in mind that these are mostly horror and science-fiction movies collected by yours truly between 1989 and 1997 (I think) and there are more than a few howlers in there. I’ll happily send a list of titles to those who are genuinely interested.
Have a good weekend (and don’t forget to visit www.infectedbooks.co.uk)!
A very limited number of signed copies of the UK edition of DOG BLOOD (both hardback and paperback versions) have just been made available to buy via www.infectedbooks.co.uk.
Thanks to everyone who has already ordered books from my impromptu book sale. Some titles have already sold out and I seem to have spent more time in the post office than I have at my desk this last week!
I just wanted to say a couple of things…
- if you’re thinking of ordering, get in fast!
- I’m going to hold a quick competition to thank everyone for their interest and their orders
At the end of 2009 (or when my stock of books is gone, whichever comes sooner) I’ll put the names of everyone who has made an order since the sale was announced into a hat. One name will be drawn at random and that person will receive:
- a piece of AUTUMN artwork signed by Dickon Tolson (who plays Carl in the movie) and myself
- a HATER t-shirt
- a couple of additional signed books which are so limited they didn’t even make it into the sale!
Thanks again for your enthusiasm and your orders. To learn more, please visit www.infectedbooks.co.uk, and if you have any questions, contact me here.
